ES : Not listed as ORM on Wikipedia????

    Please look here:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_object-relational_mapping_software

Now, get this corrected since the others only strive to achieve what you have already accomplished!

    Big Smile

Re: ES : Not listed as ORM on Wikipedia????

I added EntitySpaces to that list in Nov 2007. According to the change history, it appears the majority of the listings were deleted in Feb and Mar 2008. I added EntitySpaces back under the .NET category. We'll see how long it lasts. Wink

Thx for bringing that to our attention. Now, if someone can just tell me the secret to getting listed on DMOZ, I'd be a happy camper. We have put in two requests, a year apart, and conforming to their requirements, and, yet, another 6 months have past, and no listing.

Re: ES : Not listed as ORM on Wikipedia????

Wow, that is lame Trevor. I remember the team even talking about how we wish we had /wiki/EntitySpaces on wikipedia as well. However, here is the rub. According to Wikipedia policies we are not supposed to edit/create our own entries. So if any user, has/would create an account to do this for us it would be much appreciated.

I've made a start, but it Wikipedia doesn't like me today? If anyone wishes to add to make it meet conventions, please go ahead. Or if any of the ES team want to tell me what to put, I'll change it happily.

I've added another suggestion to DMOZ. Maybe it helps...

Re: ES : Not listed as ORM on Wikipedia????

    iVirtualDocket,

I tried an advanced search on Wikipedia for "entityspaces", but could not find a separate page for "EntitySpaces". Or, is that what you mean by "Wikipedia doesn't like me today". You tried to create something, but it didn't stick. Either way, we appreciate your efforts.

I'm not much of a Wiki expert, but if I were allowed to, I think this is the approach I would take. I would go to the link TrevorW posted and log in. If you go to the .NET category, you will see some names are Wiki links, and some, like EntitySpaces, are just off-site links (to our home page). If you click "edit" to the right of the .NET category header, you will see that the EntitySpaces entry is missing the surrounding double square brackets. I believe adding them will turn our name into a Wiki link.

Once back at the ORM page, I'm not sure exactly what happens if you click on the EntitySpaces Wiki link. It might take you to a stub page and allow you to edit content on it. Or, it might take you to a "page not found" page for EntitySpaces, and have a link for creating/adding the page.

As far as content, it does not have to be much, maybe a paragraph or two. Clicking on some of the existing Wiki links in the .NET category might provide some guidance. I would probably pull some stuff off our home page and edit it. The problem with the existing text on our home page from Wikipedia's point of view is that it is too self-promotional. A Wikipedia article needs to be written with a very objective tone... no hype... a feature list - yesYes... "one tough .NET architecture" - noNo. I think it also helps to have references or citations to relevant Wikipedia articles.

    Hope that helps.

Re: ES : Not listed as ORM on Wikipedia????

    Hi David.

I've created a few wiki articles a long time ago, and it appears to have gotten stricter. Unfortunately yesterday it deleted my post as soon as I posted up something word for word from the home-page. It saw it as self-promotion and didn't allow me to undo it or appeal it.

Not to worry, I've been Mr Objectional and written a summary, feature list and provider list.

I want to add some of your examples to it as well as soon as I get another fifteen minutes.

It's been accepted so far, so I wont mess with it any more, but I have missed a few features and not done justice to others.

Let me know if you need anything sorting/fixing.

Re: ES : Not listed as ORM on Wikipedia????

That's alright, I needed a night off from work. I've made a load more changes to try and make it meet the notability standards, but the tags keep getting added by the guy who appears to be watching it.

I might have to create the EntitySpaces page as a stub, then create another page for EntitySpaces, LLC with the EntitySpaces details under it.
