I purchased the developer version and ran into an installation problem.  I uninstalled the trial version and repeated the following sequence and variations several times and encounter the same error:

1. Downloaded Release 2007.1.1210.0 zip
2. Installed MyGeneration 1.3.0.3
3. Unzipped the Release
4. Ran the executable with all components selected
5. Doesn't detect MyGeneration - fails
6. Restarted installation with MyGeneration detection deselected
7. Installation proceeds then fails with the message: "Can't write \Settings\esPluginSettings.xml" (I ignore this and similarly I get the same error for a number of other files)

I don't have time to spin my wheels on this - any ideas?

 

 

 

 

There are special installs of EntitySpaces, one for MyGen 1.3 and one for MyGen 1.2 that sounds like the issue here, there are both in the same area, just download the right one. We assure you it works.

There are two EntitySpaces Developer installers in the downloads forum, a recommended one for use with MyGeneration 1.2.0.7, and a Beta installer for use with MyGeneration 1.3.0.3, one link right above the other. MyGeneration 1.2.0.7 can be downloaded from the link on our Home page. MyGeneration 1.3.0.3 can be downloaded from the MyGeneration Home page, or directly from Download.com.

Nevermind, I found a previous post with the same problem.  I installed version 1.2.x of My Generation and ES then installed correctly.  I was deceived since the install detection redirects to the download of the latest version (1.3.x).

I have the same issue - downloaded the latest 2007 developer release - but can't install with mygen 1.3.

i get the same errors as above.  Tried compete uninstall, then reinstall of both.

What next? - I'm up the creek and wanting to get this sorted asap...

 Hope some one can assist.

Be carefull of what you download!

I purchased the Developer addition and went to the downloads forum where there are two choices:

Attachment: EntitySpaces_Developer.zip
Attachment: EntitySpaces_Developer_MyGen13.zip

I goofed!

The first choice is ES for MyGeneration version 1.2 and I thought I was getting the choice to dowenload ES and another choice to download MyGeneration version1.3.

 The choices are actually both two different versions of EntitySpaces and the first choice is ES for version 1.2 of MyGeneration, the second choice is ES for version 1.3 of MyGeneration.

Does that help?

My suggestion to ES: rename the first choice like this:

Attachment: EntitySpaces_Developer_MyGen12.zip

That way the choices are clear.

 

 

I was careful - I have tried both packages now with no success and I'm having a BIG sense of humor failure - please can someone help me sort this mess out.

 What's so hard about getting a release right?

Where do I get the 1.2 version from?

assuming your talking about this page: http://www.mygenerationsoftware.com/portal/default.aspx I can't see any link or even the text you refer to.

I found a prev version of 1.2.7 so I'm good to go now.

strongly recommend you pack 1.2.7 with the the appropriate package so no else get's trapped.

Our Home Page is http://www.entityspaces.net It is where you can download our Trials and Developer. The MyGeneration 1.2 link I mentioned is on that page. MyGeneration is a separate product, with their own site, documentation, and support forums. While we try to help out as much as possible with the MyGeneration project, it should not be confused with EntitySpaces. While MyGeneration currently has a liberal open source policy, that has not always been the case. Plus, as we move to supporting both MyGeneration and CodeSmith, each with their own release schedule, packaging EntitySpaces with them is just not practical.

Our purchased downloads page has been updated to make it more clear what it is you are downloading. And, our Trial download page has been similarly revamped. It, also, now contains links to both MyGeneration 1.2 and 1.3.

We are sorry this was such a snafu. We strive to make things as simple as possible. But, with things evolving as quickly as they do, it can be difficult to keep our product, documentation, and site in sync. Sometimes, we just are just too close to it to realize what it looks like from the user's point of view.
