Just wanted to check in on the status of the suggestions in this post.

The 4 suggestions were:

• Set TotalRowCount automatically?
• Provide a default sort expression when none is provided if (when AutoSorting="true")?
• Handle paging and sorting automatically based on the control that it is connected to?  E.g. if the control was set for Paging then it would esDataSource would automatically do paging, etc...
• Support for Circular references.

Isn't the TotalRowCount stuff supposed to be in the 2008 release? I hope it is, as this is one area of the esDataSource that I feel needs addressing.

Can you verify that the (much needed) TotalRowCount functionality has made it into 2008?

According to this post it was expected to be in the ES 2008 beta, but I see no reference to it in the list of changes.

It is not in there yet, supporting CodeSmith was a big effort on our part, but we're over the hump now, it won't be long/

Too bad.  From my perspective support for generating directly in Visual Studio (2008?) would have been a lot more valuable, but maybe folks have build environments where CodeSmith is important?

If I'm reading the RoadMap correctly, it looks like none of the 4 items listed above made it, but adding the SelectCountMethod property to the esDataSource is a partial solution for "Set TotalRowCount automatically" - although you still have to run queries 2x or figure out how to get just the count.

Question: Is there a quick/easy way within ES to strip all select statements out of the query?
