my current version of ES is 2008.1.0623.0
which version of MyGeneration is it best to work with?? - 1.2.7 or 1.3.03?

If I remember correctly we were still recommending that people stick with MyGen 1.2.0.7 at that time. For template coders, MyGen 1.3.x has some nice improvements. but for generating ES 2008 templates (which used our own Metadata engine), it was just safer and easier to use 1.2.0.7.
Also, regardless of which you choose, make sure MyGen is installed before ES 2008.

doh...just realized i've not backed up my es templates...i have the distributables though. what's the chances of getting the old templates email to me?

Mmmmhh... I hope you can track down the ES installer or the templates. Maybe another user can help. We do not keep every minor revision, especially from a year and 1/2 ago. We only maintain the final production versions for ES 2007, 2008, etc. I'll check, but I'm not sure I can dig up those specific templates.
