EntitySpaces renewals affect your ability to continue downloading updates and new releases from the Download Forums. If you login to our main site with the same user id that you used to originally purchase EntitySpaces, you can go to our Products -> Purchase page, and see your expiration date. You can, also, enter the quantities desired, and press the Calculate Price link to see your renewal costs.
The remainder of this post only applies to customers who purchased before February 6, 2007. If you purchased after February 6, 2007, you still have quite a bit time before you need to renew. You will receive a renewal notice thirty days prior to expiration, however, you are responsible for your ensuring that you renew. Users switch email accounts, and spam filters can prevent you from receiving our reminder notices.
Back on February 6, 2007, we changed both our packaging and pricing model. Those who purchased before February 6th purchased on the old model, but were moved to the new model of Developer and Source when it went into effect. You were grandfathered in on the renewal plan listed below.
To honor the EntitySpaces 1.6.0 (now ES2007 v0) release guarantee, we have given early adopters an additional benefit. We have extended the original expiration date to June 4, 2007 for all licenses that would have expired before our ES2007 release. That grace period will soon be over. EntitySpaces 2007 will be released on May 28th. If you purchased EntitySpaces prior to June 4, 2006, you will need to renew by June 4, 2007.
Those of you who purchased after June 4, 2006, but before February 6, 2007, also need to consider renewing. If you renew early, your new expiration date will be calculated from your original expiration date, not from the renewal date. You are not penalized for early renewal, so renew now, and sleep easy.
Here is the original post as it appeared back in February. EntitySpaces was not renamed to ES2007 until after this post, so when you read 1.6.0, this is referring to ES2007 v0.
We have prepared this page to help our current customers understand the impact of our new pricing model.
Before we begin, our new offering has only two products: "EntitySpaces Developer" and "EntitySpaces Source". EntitySpaces Developer is licensed per developer seat. See the License for details on what a developer seat is. You can see from our Pricing page that the new EntitySpaces Source product does not count as a developer seat. The EntitySpaces Developer product must be purchased in order to purchase the EntitySpaces Source product. However, before you panic, please take the time to read the following. We think that you will see how much we value our current customers. Let's begin...
Express Customers - Impact
All Express customers who have purchased, or that purchase the Express package before February 6th, will be added to the new "EntitySpaces Developer" role. This means that Express customers will have access to all of the providers when the new pricing goes into effect. And something we know you'll appreciate, the new Developer install is a single install with all of the providers included. Therefore, there is no need to download all of the providers individually. Express customers will receive the 40% discount if they purchase EntitySpaces Developer before their 1 year anniversary date. This means that renewal is only $89.40. You will receive a renewal email notice 30 days before your anniversary date.
Summary: Access to all EntitySpaces providers, renewal at $89.40
Professional Customers - Impact
All Professional customers who have purchased, or that purchase the Professional package before February 6th, will be added to the new "EntitySpaces Developer" role. This means that Professional customers will have access to all of the providers when the new pricing goes into effect. And something we know you'll appreciate, the new Developer install is a single install with all of the providers included. Therefore, there is no need to download all of the providers individually.
Professional customers that purchase EntitySpaces Developer before their current 1 year anniversary date will receive an additional year over and above the standard one year of free upgrades (a one time offering only). So, for example, if you purchase EntitySpaces Developer on Feb 1st, 2008 you will receive free upgrades through Feb 1st, 2010. This renewal extension is a one time only offering only applied at renewal. Professional customers will also receive the 40% discount if they purchase EntitySpaces Developer before their 1 year anniversary date. This means renewal is only $89.40 and entitles you to two years of free upgrades.
Summary: Access to all EntitySpaces providers, renewal at $89.40, renewal (one time only) includes 2 years of free upgrades.
Enterprise Customers - Impact
The main difference effecting Enterprise customers is that in the old system (still available through February 6th, 2007) the Enterprise Package provided both the source code and also counted as a developer seat. This is not the case in the new pricing model.
All Enterprise customers who have purchased the Enterprise package before February 6th will be added to both the new "EntitySpaces Developer" role and the "EntitySpaces Source" role. This means that Enterprise customers will have the required developer seat through the new EntitySpaces Developer package, and access to the source code through the new EntitySpaces Source package when the new pricing goes into effect.
Enterprise customers that purchase EntitySpaces Developer before their current one year anniversary date will receive an additional year over and above the standard one year of free upgrades (a one time offering only). So, for example, if you purchase EntitySpaces Developer on Feb 1st, 2008 you will receive free upgrades through Feb 1st, 2010.
Enterprise customers will also receive the 40% discount if they purchase EntitySpaces Developer and EntitySpaces Source before their 1 year anniversary date. This means renewal is as follows:
EntitySpaces Developer Annual Maintenance: $89.40
EntitySpaces Source Annual Maintenance: $299.40
-----------------------------------------------------
$388.80
Summary: Renewal at $388.80 , renewal (one time only) includes 2 years of free upgrades.
We put a lot of thought into this. We feel we have compensated everyone such that all customers, no matter what package they have purchased, benefit, as we transition to our new pricing Model. All customers will receive a renewal email notice 30 days before their anniversary date.
EntitySpaces Release 1.6.0 Guarantee.
Version 1.6.0 is currently scheduled for release on March 15, 2007. We cannot guarantee hitting targeted release dates, but we can guarantee that we will not start enforcing renewal anniversary dates until after 1.6.0 is released. If you were an early adopter of EntitySpaces, rest assured that we appreciate your long-time loyalty. You will have access to the 1.6.0 release download even if you do not renew. We have enough confidence in EntitySpaces that we believe users will renew maintenance even if not required to do so for the 1.6.0 release.
